The venue lies a couple of miles to the southeast of Cherokee in a fairly remote part of the Tar Heel State, about three hours from Charlotte. The Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort opened for business in 1997, thanks to a deal between North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian tribe, one of the state’s federally recognized tribes.
